Medicine Park

So I did a fundraiser lemonade stand/bakesale at the Medicine Park Red Dirt Ball and raised 200 dollars in a day and a half. It was hot but people were friendly and willing to give. I had some stiff competition, but I think I did ok. I met some really cool people out there and heard alot of really awesome stories. My heart goes out to Chuck, the 3X cancer survivor who yelled at me for not having enough pink….. thanks Chuck! Also the hula hoop lady, for the life of me I do not know how she spinned that hula hoop for 8 hours on sat. and came back out on sun. no wonder she in such good shape. But all in all is was amazing, and a good start to my summer fundraising. I just hope all my other fundraisers go as well.

Change Change Change

Boy, can change really add up! About a month ago I put 2 change jars at the Country Mart on Gore and have made 75 dollars. Just in change and a couple of spare dollars. It really lets you know that people are willing to give, if you just put it out there for them. I know that I still have a long way to go, but it is coming along slowly but surely. The people there have been great, and are continuing to give me alot of support. I just want to send a big THANK YOU! out to all who have donated to the Save the CHI-CHI jars. You all are helping make a difference in the the fight against breast cancer. I still have alot going on to include a lemonade stand in Medicince Park and a trip to Cali to see my nephew graduate from highschool. So will keep you all updated!!!!

I was starting to question whether I could do this or not. It just seems like so much, the fundraising, the training, the fundraising. I was really thinking about backing out, I guess a big part of it is so many people asking me why are you doing this, 60 miles is alot. One person asked me today, Why would you put yourself through all of that? I couldn’t believe she would ask me that, her being a women, why would you even think to ask a person who has survived cancer that. But me being me, it got me thinking. I came home depressed thinking about what I should do and I was surfing the net and I found these links, and I instantly remembered why I am doing this.

Because I can, I am alive, I am strong. It is going to be hard. There is a chance I won’t make it the whole way. People will tell me NO. It will hurt. But dammit as long as I have breath in my body and as long as my legs can move, I will walk. So for all of you who doubt me, who don’t understand, or who think I am crazy, just stop and think for a second. Everyone can be amazing, it is in it in everyone to do something extrodinary. I do this because people who can’t fight for themselves need someone to fight for them, and I will be that person, for as long as I can I will fight.

Here are some links for those that need help understanding.

1 fundraiser down 100 more to go!

Ok Ok, so it’s not much of a table, but I only had 1 day to get everything together. However, for it not being much I got the word out to alot of people and even pulled in some donations. This was at the GPTC small business expo, they were kind enought to give me a slot to raise some funds. Bad part was that is wasn’t exactly the crowd for kid t-shirts and hair bows, but their were alot of businesses that I was able to give packets to and hopefully will get some donations from them. We will see!!!!

I only made $100, but considering I only sold 2 hair bows and 1 t-shirt that was pretty good. The picture above was taken after being on my feet for 3 hours so excuse me for not being to perky, I totally wore the wrong shoes, lesson learned. I did get to meet some really cool people from Gordon’s Landscaping here in Lawton, they had the most beautiful exhibit. They are definitly on my list for when we get our house in the fall, I want my whole yard to look like that, and they are good people too. I always hope that when I do a booth like that that they put me next to the funny people, they make it pass faster.

Well all in all it was really good. Me and Chris went to Lowe’s today and I spoke with the manager and was able to get a real good discount on some supplies to make a lemonade stand. Yup, you guessed it that is my next fundraiser a  lemonade stand. We are going to be doing it at the Medicine Park Red Dirt Ball on Memorial Weekend. I hope it goes well, there is suppose to be alot of people. How I am going to pull this off I do not know, but where there is a will there is a way. Oh I almost forgot, I spoke with the most amazing lady at Medicine Park town hall yesterday, Jane. She really understood why I am doing all of this, and is and amazing person herself. She was very excited about the lemonade stand and offered to help me in any way she can. I really love to meet people who understand what a good cause this is and are willing to help, even w/o being asked.

Just goes to show you never know when you are going to meet a special person who is willing to go the extra yard to help, Thanks Jane.

Busy Busy Busy

Oh my goodness, is all I can say about today. It was ok until about noon, when I got a call from GPTC that there was a slot open for their small business expo tomorrow. Of course, I jumped at it. I tried to reg. for it about a week ago, when I signed up for the 3-day but it was full. They actually didn’t have a slot open up but they made and extra space for me since it was for charity, great people. So, I had to go all the way across town to go fill out the paperwork for the slot, pick up ribbon, shirts, and a table cloth for my booth. By the time I got home it was already 6, luckily the hubby had already started dinner. I love that man.
I totally forgot about the expo being that they had already told me no, so I didn’t have anywhere near enought stuff to show. So I got the family together and we made it happen. Kids and hubby worked on the signs and ironing the table cloth, hubby made and served dinner too. I went in to bow overload and plugged in my handy dandy glue gun and got to work. I worked on bows from about 7-11, then made tags and priced them. Put together a door prize, and then started on my collection jars. I am usually a pretty crafty person so I have loads of craft crap aroud the house. They came out pretty dam cute, if I say so for myself. Post pics below. I then got busy making some change purses, started going crossed eyed about 1200, so only managed to make about 8 of those. So all in all today was a hectic day, and tomorrow is only going to get busier.
Tomorrow I have to make the shirts, copy the flyers and info letters, business cards, and bee at the expo at noon. It really doesn’t start until 4 but they want us to sign in by 1, I guess so they have time to hunt people down. I figure this is going to be a good opportunity to hit business up for money. I hope I hope I hope it goes well tomorrow.
Ok, so I gotta get some sleep, if I want to atleast be a little presentable tomorrow. so good night all.

My New Journey

So, long time no write, I know. I am taking on a new journey, I have committed myself to walk 60 miles in 3 days with the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk for a Cure. Crazy, yes but ohhh so worth it. The whole deal is that I signed up to take this walk on the condition of I raise 2300 for the charity. Yes, you heard it right again, 2300 dollars. I know that it is going to be hard but I think I can do it and this opportunity to affect people is amazing.

The main reason I am doing this is for my daughter, I don’t want her to be afraid. I myself was diagnosed a few years ago. I am doing good now, but it was a long road. I was very fortunate to have some really excellent doctors and alot of prayers. I have also lost 2 amazing women to this disease, friends that i will remember forever. I met them on my journey and always and forever be in my heart.

I think that women need to stick together and fight for eachother, and this is my way of fighting for myself and for those who can not. Everyone deserves to a full life, and I don’t feel that some disease should be able to take that from them.  I think that women should be away of what is going on with their bodies and should not have the mentality that this could never happen to me. I thought that once, I don’t anymore.

So from here on out I am going to be blogging about my journey to the 3-day. Fundraising, the people I meet, and lastly the walk itself. Don’t be a stranger, let me know what you think, or expecially if you have any idea about how I could raise money. I love comments and talking to and meeting new people.

So with that being said

Have a wonderful day and talk to you soon

Lose weight or go crazy trying to…..

I am trying to lose a few pounds, ok that is an understatement. I am actually trying to lose a whole person that is attached to my backside. I feel like it is a never ending uphill battle that just happens to be through 10 feet of snow. Now don’t get me wrong I have seen progress, but just not fast enough for me. I like it when I just happen to wake up one morning and bam I am a size 6. You know kind of like when you are pregnant and you wake up one morning and have what feels like the whole planet attached to you stomach. You know what is funny that actually did happen to me, not the getting huge part but the losing it all in one night, only not exactly the way I wanted. Most of you who have kids know what I am talking about. You go into the hostpital a nice size 20, plop out a baby and then wake up the next morning about 5 sizes smaller. See it does happen, I just left out the part about all the sagging skin and railroad tracks running across you tummy. I guess next time I should be more specific when I ask for things. Ok, so let me wake up in the morning 10 sizes smaller, no stretch marks, no saggy skin,  18 year old breast, clear skin, permanently shaved legs and armpits, split-end-less hair, all gray hairs gone, and oh yeah with out morning breath. Seriously people is that really to much to ask for. Moving on, I got a little side tracked. I have been on this working out binge and am starting to feel like nothing is happening. People keep telling me “Toni you are losing weight” but I don’t see it. WHY???? Am I not the only person who matters, why when it is my body and I am the one working my butt of am I the only person who can’t see the results…….. Ok Ok I am going a little crazy, but really who isn’t. With all these diets out there and all these people telling you to do this and do this, what do you do? I feel like I am losing my mind, and all I really want is a big fat piece of chocolate cake with a big scoop of ice cream and a pepsi. Help me to get pass the madness of losing weight. Anybody……….

Butterfly Garden

First on the list was the Butterfly Park and Pizza in the Sky. I think these two go hand in hand. It would be pointless to drive all the way up there and only go to one. They are close enough to each other, actually they are close to a lot of places so if you wanted to make a bunch of checks on your list of places to see, it would be a good idea to knock ’em all off at once. I think that the butterfly park is cute and you really should take your children at least once. I just don’t think it is worth the trip all the way north if that is the only place you are going to and it will only take you about an hour at most to go through the entire park. And if your kids are terrified of butterflies like mine, it will only take 15 minutes. Good thing though kids 3-4 were only Y200 and adults Y400, so not very expensive.

To get there, you just drive towards the aquarium and it will be about a mile before it. You can’ miss it, it will be on your left but parking is on your right.

Catch up

Things have been so crazy lately….Ok, so maybe it’s just me. But with all the stuff I am selling I have been working like crazy, I love it but it is still a lot. So to catch up, hubby was in the field for about a month, so the kid’s and I took it upon our selves to see the island with some friends. So the next couple of post are the places we have been to. We had so much fun. I have also had to say goodbye to some very good friends this past month. If you are in the military you know what that feels like, PCS season, it sucks. But it is what we have to do, and who knows maybe we will run into each other again. I think the hardest part is for the kids, my son misses his friends and when he asks for them it is really hard to explain to a 4 year old that he may never see them again. I think he understands but it is still hard for him, they were really close. In closing, I miss you guys and love you lots……

Dragon Boat Race 2009!!!

WOW! I can not believe we are done. Well we didn’t win, but we didn’t lose either. We beat the Marines but lost to the Navy, I know that really blows. But I had a blast and can’t believe that it is over, what am I going to do every tuesday and thursday now. It was such an honor taking part in something so sacred, I can’t believe I did it. This is going to be an awesome story to tell my kiddos when they get older. Everyone was cheering us on and their was so much enthusiasm that it was hard not to get nervous and all hyped up. All and all I am going to miss all the ladies that took part, you are all great and I am so glad I met you. I am exhausted and going to bed now, but I will leave you with a few more pics. Hopefully if you are in Okinawa you will get a chance to take part in the races.
