Catch up

Things have been so crazy lately….Ok, so maybe it’s just me. But with all the stuff I am selling I have been working like crazy, I love it but it is still a lot. So to catch up, hubby was in the field for about a month, so the kid’s and I took it upon our selves to see the island with some friends. So the next couple of post are the places we have been to. We had so much fun. I have also had to say goodbye to some very good friends this past month. If you are in the military you know what that feels like, PCS season, it sucks. But it is what we have to do, and who knows maybe we will run into each other again. I think the hardest part is for the kids, my son misses his friends and when he asks for them it is really hard to explain to a 4 year old that he may never see them again. I think he understands but it is still hard for him, they were really close. In closing, I miss you guys and love you lots……

Dragon Boat Race 2009!!!

WOW! I can not believe we are done. Well we didn’t win, but we didn’t lose either. We beat the Marines but lost to the Navy, I know that really blows. But I had a blast and can’t believe that it is over, what am I going to do every tuesday and thursday now. It was such an honor taking part in something so sacred, I can’t believe I did it. This is going to be an awesome story to tell my kiddos when they get older. Everyone was cheering us on and their was so much enthusiasm that it was hard not to get nervous and all hyped up. All and all I am going to miss all the ladies that took part, you are all great and I am so glad I met you. I am exhausted and going to bed now, but I will leave you with a few more pics. Hopefully if you are in Okinawa you will get a chance to take part in the races.

Army Women’s Dragon Boat Team

WOW, that is all I have to say. I have been on the team for about 3 months now and our race is May 5th. We finally got to actually practice on a boat this past saturday and it was amazing. I was so excited to be part of something here on Okinawa that has been going on for hundreds of years, until about an hour into practice, when I felt like I was going to puke and felt pain in my entire body. The girls were motivated and we did awesome. The picture above are our race boats, they fit 32 rowers and 3 coaches. I just think this is so cool, it makes me feel like I am part of something bigger, and yes these boats are huge. We are a good team and the girls really support eachother, I have made some great friends and have gotten to see and do things that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise. So with that being said, GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!!!!!

My Forest Adventure

Wow!!! It has definitly been awhile since my last post, so sorry. but I have definitly been busy. So busy that my and my husband have decided to start a date night to be able to get away and remember that we are still married and don’t just live in the same house together. With that being said, our first date was to The Forest Adventure Park here on Okinawa. It was awesome and we both had so much fun. For those of you that don’t live here on the island, it is exactly what the name says, an adventure park. Rope bridges, zip tieing, propelling, and a whole lot of climbing, and for those of you that know me you know that I am a big girl so climbing and flying through the air 60 feet up is big for me. Geeze, what happen to the simple dinner and a movie now we have to resort to flying across a forest to keep our marriage alive. I think my husband took me saying, lets make our marriage interesting to literal. It was fun none the less. It took us about 4 hours to get through teh whole park and I screamed and laughed so hard I nearly we my pants. Overall, I give it 4 thumbs up and had a great time with my hubby and can’t wait for our next date, hopefully with both feet on the ground. Here are a few pics of me flying….. csc_0434

Here is Chris showing off, I took the easy bridge to the left.

Okinawa World

Okay, we have been on this island for nearly 2 years now and have not seen anything. I know, what a shame. Most of our weekends are spent i the backyard with the hubby lighting the grill, and although that is nice, I need a break. I need to see something new. So I am putting my foot down, I told the hubby that from now on every weekend we are going somewhere new and doing something different. With that being said, because you know my word is finallllll. We ventured off to Okinawa world with some friends. And boy did I wish I was home in the backyard grilling. It was so hot and humid, I was sweating in places you are not suppose to sweat. And you all know that I am a big girl, and big girls don’t like sweating. Moving on, I have got to say though it was very beautiful, hot, but beautiful. The kids had a good time and we got to see some real cool things. They have this underground cave that is 2 miles long, it had some real cool fish and a funky smell but overall very nice. We also got to see some Eisa dancers, I honestly do not know how they can jump around with those big ole drums, but It was nice for us who were sitting down in the shade. My sons favorite part was the picture with the Boa, he didn’t want to give it back, me and chris were a little freaked out as you can tell in the picture. Over all, we had a real good time and it was a good start to our new resolution to get out more and see things.
